Celebrating one year of adventures

As 2025 comes to an end, we celebrate an incredible year for XTREAM—a year marked by exploration, innovation, and community. From our project's kick-off in January, to launching our website and producing our first set of materials—a brochure, an infographic, and an introductory video—, we've laid the foundation for a project that thrives on curiosity and collaboration. 

Our journey took us to the extremes of Earth: in July, we ventured to Svalbard, Norway, for our first Arctic expedition, inaugurating our technology and collecting the project's first samples. Later, we explored one of the planet's most acidic environments in Río Tinto, Spain, accompanied by wonderful colleagues from the extremophile community. Beyond the field, we connected with sister projects through our joint newsletter and shared insights with an ever-growing community passionate about the wonders of extreme worlds. 

This year was also about storytelling—bringing science closer to everyone. Through our blog and social channels, we've shared not only milestones but also the curiosity that drives us forward. Every piece of content was designed to spark questions and inspire exploration, because science is not just about answers—it's about the journey to find them.
